Meet Mrs. Valonis...

Mrs. Larissa Valonis joined the Forester family in November, 2018 as the elementary school counselor. She carries a caseload of approximately 480 students PK-6. Prior to coming to Forest City Regional, Mrs. Valonis served as a school counselor for 8 years with nearly 6 of those years at Lakeland Jr/Sr High School, supporting students in grades 7 through 12.
A lifelong resident of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Mrs. Valonis graduated from Valley View High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Crime, Law, and Justice, with a concentration in Legal Studies and a Minor in Sociology from Penn State University, University Park, and a Master of Science Degree in School Counseling from the University of Scranton. She received her National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential in 2011.
Mrs. Valonis is a member of the FCRES SAP and Request for Assistance teams, is the building co-coach for the PBIS School-Wide Tier 1 program, serves on the Advanced Tier committee within the school's PBIS framework, as well as the district's Safety and Mental Health Committees. She believes in supporting the WHOLE child within ONE student-driven, data-informed system to ensure the most appropriate, effective, and efficient supports and interventions are implemented when needed.
Outside of FCR, she serves as the secretary of the School Counselors of NEPA, a local organization that works toward promoting the professional status and growth of its members and improving comprehensive school counseling programs in our schools. Mrs. Valonis is also on the Governing Board as the Northeast Region Representative for the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association. She resides with her husband, Brian, their daughter, Sloanne, and golden retriever, Colby.
